Biography

Rafael Barrios is a Miami-based Venezuelan-American artist. Born in 1947 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he studied at the Ontario College of Art, Canada, the University of New York, USA and the Museo de Bellas Artes, Caracas, Venezuela.

 

Barrios has created many public works, including murals for the Polar Foundation, Caracas, Venezuela; Arts and Industry, New York; Coca-Cola International, New York; Monumental Sculpture at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sofia Imber, Caracas, Venezuela; Presidency Consolidated Bank (now Bank Corp); Seguros Venezuela, Caracas, Procter & Gamble, Caracas, Venezuela. His most recent public work was a large outdoor exhibition of several sculptures on Park Avenue for The Armory Show 2012 in New York.

 

Barrios has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the United States, Europe, South America, and the Middle East. His work is held in permanent collections such as the Art Gallery of Ontario and Carmmen Lammana Foundation in Toronto, Canada; National Art Gallery, Caracas, Venezuela; Museum of Contemporary Art Sofia Imber, Caracas, Venezuela, and in private collections such as the King Don Juan de Borbon, Spain and Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, Germany.
