“My work sets the stage for the dematerialization of form and line with caught and reflected light as they appear in all their radiating mystery in shaping perception. In consideration of the dimensional relationships that exist between drawing, painting, and sculpture, this work is preoccupied with light and perception. An outer specially formulated semi-transparent canvas provides the opportunity to work within and transform the traditional support of drawing and painting. As the rigidity of the planar support dissolved, circumstance arises to explore the phenomenological effects of light passing through the surface creating works that blur the distinction between the material and immaterial. Sometime inwardly divisible and outwardly expanding, lines appear to hover in space as they cast colored reflections on the white back plane.Despite what your eyes are telling you, the notion of being able to see beyond the surface directly truncates the preconceived necessity of pictorial space and frees it to exist within the context of its own ethereal embodiment.
