Miles Aldridge British, 1964

Biographie

British fashion photographer Miles Aldridge has created a strange world populated by beautiful creatures in luxe — if artificially colour-saturated — environments. His eerily erotic images call to mind psychedelia, Pop Art, and the films of David Lynch, Dario Argento, and Pedro Almodóvar — as though capturing an entire film in a single shot. “I want to set a sort of unsettling message,” Aldridge has said. “But my trick is to sugarcoat it in these bright colours.”

Aldridge, the son of noted designer Alan Aldridge, studied illustration at Central St Martins and directed music videos before becoming a regular contributor to the world’s top fashion magazines in the early 1990s, including Vogue Italia, where he remains a key presence.
