Overview

Ben Aronson is a Massachusetts-based painter who is known for his gestural urban landscapes. He completed his BFA and MFA at Boston University's School of Fine Arts, where he studied with the painter Philip Guston. Aronson worked as an architectural illustrator in the early 1990s, and his compositions evoke the style of American Precisionism.

Aronson's painterly streetscapes capture moving figures, cars, flags, and clouds in a single, richly-coloured moment. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the De Young Museum in San Francisco, and the Suzhou Museum in China, among other public and private collections.
