Biography
Good Day is a Canadian-born, New York based painter. Primarily known for his large-scale landscapes, Day references both American Modernist and Barbizon School painters to create ethereal, dream-like compositions. Poplar Tree Study (After Corot) references Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot's depictions of the French town of Marissel through the 1850s. Striving for a 'quick' light akin to the works of Louis Dodd, Alex Katz and Ann Craven, Day employs thin washes of pigment to create impressionistic scene, aimed at portraying the atmospheric qualities of landscape painting.
